Inner Child - Comedy (Rated G) Low budget set anywhere in USA, Australia or the UK.
Logline: Three engineers get hypnotized at a work function which brings out their inner child whenever they hear their trigger word (the color of their ties that night, blue, red and green respectively), causing mayhem in their lives.
Synopsis: The Annual Engineering Awards go well for Trent Mathers who owns a small engineering firm. The entertainment for the night is Marty the Magician, who calls up the last four prize winners for the night which includes, Trent and his friends Fitzy and Nathan.
Marty hypnotizes them and gives them all a trigger word that brings out their inner child whenever they hear it. Marty assures them it will wear off within a few days. Monique, Trent's wife tells their two kids how funny their father was on stage that night and the kids make it their mission to try to find the trigger word.
None of the men can remember what happened on stage, so fob it off as a load of hogwash, until strange things start happening to them; like waking up face down in a bunker at the golf course, or covered in ice cream at 2am, on a roof on a building site or even in a prison cell for shoplifting and more.
Eventually Trent's kids uncover that the color of the neck tie he was wearing at the awards, red, is his color word. Trent is keen to test the theory of the neck tie colors out on the others the next day at golf to find out that it is true. Meanwhile Nathan goes on a date with Stacey but makes a fool of himself after mentioning how blue her eyes are.
Trent videos the guys on the golf course as he tells them their trigger color to prove to them it is true. Fitzy's color is green and Nathan's blue. They go on a mission to track down Marty the Magician to see if he can reverse it. Marty does so and whispers something in each of their ears as they leave.
It works. They can go back to saying and hearing the colors without consequence and the guys are happy to be able to live normally again. Meanwhile, Trent has won a major development project ahead of the larger company, Allen Engineering. Mr Allen tries to undermine the project and Trent nearly loses the job. When that project is finished both companies bid on an even larger project and become the final two candidates.
At the final meeting, Trent comes up with a sneaky plan to pull out Mr Allen's trigger word in front of the developers. See, Mr Allen was the fourth man on stage that night and was wearing a silver neck tie. Trent keeps saying 'silver' in the meeting and Mr Allen makes a total fool of himself wearing fairy wings, dancing on the table, kissing trees and harassing the developers to the point where they leave disgusted.
Since Mr Allen never got to see Marty the Magician before he skipped town, Mr Allen is stuck with it for life. Trent uses it as a bribe to keep Mr Allen from undermining any future projects his company works on.
The closing scene shows the second major project, a Shopping Mall finally complete with the local Mayor cutting the ribbon to declare it open. Trent is proud and comes off stage after the ceremony to hug his family in friends in the front row when someone mentions an uncommon word.
The mayor is now moving towards the crowd to shake hands with the public and the last shot we see is of Trent's face suddenly changing and he gets a cheeky glint in his eye, leaps away from his friends and makes a mid air leap for the mayor. Monique curses, "Damn you Marty," as she realizes the magician undid the color as the trigger word, but gave the guys a new one!
