Girl's Weekend - Romantic Comedy (Rated PG) Low budget set anywhere in USA, Australia or the UK near water
Logline: Three pretty women at a resort spa with stacks of money, a stag part next door, plenty of sunshine...and six kids in tow.
Synopsis: Petra is a pretty woman in her early thirties married to an older man, Max who, on the morning of her first weekend without the kids in nearly 8 years, wakes up to find him nowhere to be seen. She can't catch him on his cell phone and panics, as she is meant to be picking her other two friends, Lucy and Dolly up in an hour for their, 'Girl's Weekend.'
Meanwhile Lucy is getting her stuff together and her ex husband, Don, calls to say that he can't take their boys afterall as he has to work. There is nothing he can do about it and she has no one else to call at such short notice. The kids are disappointed but expect nothing less from their unreliable father.
Poor Dolly finds out that morning too, that her husband James suddenly has to take off for a surfing competition leaving the kids behind. Dolly chases him down the driveway shaking her fists.
So as it turns out, they turn up at the Resort Spa with six kids in tow. The women are clearly disappointed but what can you do? They get moved to one of the penthouse suites and charge their husbands' credit cards through the roof.
But with kids around, lying by the pool and getting pedicures doesn't run smoothly. The kids poo in the pool, put suds in the fountain, splash other guests and scream and yell. Even meal times turn in to chaos.
Luckily Lucy flirts with the liquor store guy, Charlie, who saves them from a pooey, credit card fraud incident and asks to meet them at the resort bar later that night.
Dolly ends up with a mild case of food poisoning and stays home with the kids that night, while Petra and Lucy hit the resort bar. Handsome forty something bar tender Mike takes a shine to Petra, who still can't locate Max.
They all make friends with the young stag party guys from the penthouse next door. In fact with a strange turn of events the groom, Davin ends up naked on their living room floor the next morning, much to the kids' curiosity and delight.
Petra's husband, Max, ends up calling to say he had to take his mother to hospital yet we can hear another woman's voice humming in the background. Petra isn't suspicious until having to rush one of the kids to the hospital after breaking their wrist to find that neither him nor his mother were ever even at the hospital. She catches him having an affair and leaves him.
Six months later Greg the barman welcomes Petra with open arms and the movie ends with him pampering her, and Lucy and Charlie are together as well. It may not have been a relaxing weekend but it did change their lives for the better, none the less.
